If you will be in Australia for a long time, it would be wise to pack items for the current season and leave out the rest. Other items can be bought when you arrive there to avoid having too much luggage. Passport, Visa, driver’s license, credit cards, debit cards, some cash and a guidebook. These documents should be in your carry luggage so that you can easily access them when needed.

Some include a waterproof jacket, woollen sweaters or jumpers and heavy shoes. During the summer, very light clothing is recommended as it gets very hot. Other general items you may require include a towel, shampoo, conditioner, toothbrush, toothpaste, and a hair dryer. Carrying toiletries is optional since you can purchase them when you arrive.

There are numerous outback journeys which involve drives through Australia’s interior places, swimming in gorges, canoeing and flying over places such as Bungle Bungles and famous lakes. You can carry your swimming costume, skiing items and hiking items. If they take up too much space, budget to buy them when you arrive in the country.
