1) Take supplements

As much as we may try to eat a variety of foods across all groups, the truth is that not everyone can eat perfect all the time.

You may be a vegan, and you can’t get enough vitamin B12 because it only naturally occurs in animal flesh.

Or, you might be lactose intolerant, and can’t stomach the thought of eating enough broccoli and dark green vegetables to make up for the calcium you are missing out on.

Either way, it creates an opportunity for supplements to enter the equation. Supplements can bridge gaps in one’s diet where one is lacking specific vitamins or minerals, or if they are lacking a specific marker of health, such as energy.

2) Create meal plans

Most of the time however, you will want to meet your nutritional needs through the foods that you eat every day.

In order to achieve this, be sure to approach this problem with a well-drawn out plan of attack, as trying to create meals on the spot will inevitably lead to preparing simple meals that won’t contain the nutrients that you need in the long run.

Start by making a weekly meal plan on the night before grocery day. In each meal (except for a once per week cheat dinner), ensure that you are getting the appropriate amount of vitamins, minerals, fiber in the foods that you are choosing for breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

Don’t get too complex at first; create several meals that can be repeated over the course of a week. As you get better at this process, it will become easier to create unique meals that will meet your dietary needs.

3) Question, meditate, and stay positive

There’s more to health than what goes on with your body’s physical systems, as it is the brain that ultimately governs them all.

As such, it is important to implement strategies in your daily routine that guard, maintain, and improve your mental and emotional health.

One great way to keep your mind as sharp as a tack is to make a habit of questioning assertions that are made by others.

Many in our society passively accept whatever is said by their peers or the media. While this usually doesn’t cause any harm, sometimes, people suffer needlessly within societal constructs that don’t fit their life.

Another way to calm your inner center is to make meditation a daily ritual. By emptying your mind of thought and inner chatter, a peace will overcome you, making it easier to tackle the rest of your day.

Finally, by staying positive, one can avoid sliding down the slippery slope of negativity that causes people to believe that their circumstances are unchangeable.

You will see opportunity that pessimists don’t, making it easier for you to achieve what others dream of attaining for themselves.
